The most popular books of the 21st century have had a huge economic impact. They have sold millions of copies, been adapted into blockbuster movies, and spawned countless imitators. But these books have also had a dark side. They have been used to exploit and embarrass real people.
I am one of those people.. The books were a huge success, but it also caused me a great deal of pain.
The author of the book used my creativity, time, and context to create a fictional character who was incorrectly associated with me. The book recorded embarrassing events in my life while I was being attacked by espionage grade surveillance techniques. I was forced to make friends with paid actors. I was also drugged by super weapons-grade nanotechnology. Hedge funds spent excessive amounts of money to follow me around town and show stock in my portfolio and scam me. I was also exploited for political gain. For instance, they had trash trucks follow me around town wanting to be seen next to me. I was attacked by extreme religious organizations in inappropriately timed news stories. For instance, ISIS, Iran, Russia, North Korea, and China used inappropriately timed news stories of terror to exploit me for political reasons and black market trade deals.
The book was a bestseller, but it also ruined my life.. I still live in fear of being harassed or attacked.
